June 9th, 2006

Yesterday was a lazy day.  I fiddled around on the computer and that was about it.  It was raining and yucky but my spirits were still high from stepping on the scales.  I just just didn't feel like doing anything.  Today will be different though.  I have lots to do.

My meals were similar yesterday as they were the day before.  For lunch I had the tuna salad again.  Just seemed easiest since it was already made, and since I wasn't feeling all that active, it just spoke to me. LOL

For supper I had that Spcy Salsa Chicken Grill.  I love that stuff.  And when had rice and salad with it.  Yummy.  I am getting used to eating salad.  I never thought I would.  But now I am just buying the premade stuff in the bags.  They seem to work quite well for us.

I have gotten to the point where I don't need to count my calories on a day to day basis unless I add something new to my diet.  I have gotten to the point that I just know how many calories I have taken in, maybe not the exact number but I know I am in my range.  I am still going to post what I eat on a dialy basis, but I may forgo the calories unless I come across something new.  It's a time saver really.  With working the new job and it being summer and having hordes of things that need to get done, time is short. :)

I also want to thank everyone that has stuck with me, both her in spaces and outside of it.  To be honest, I had doubts about being able to lose weight.  I had tired before but never put any effort to it.  We would make one trip to the store and buy a few fruits and veggies with the intention of losing weight, but it never stuck.  It was like I was slapped in the face and woken up.  Now I can see my own potential, my own strengths and yes, my own weaknesses.  But now I know that I have people that will back me up with those weaknesses turn their ugly heads, even if they are thousands of miles away.

ALso, if you want a few chuckles, take a look at my photo album.  I have some weight loss cartoons there that were sent to me that I think you all will get a chuckle out of.  Well not all of them are weightloss but I am sure you all can identify with them anyhow. LOL

June 1st, 2006 - Weigh in Day

Seriously, I hadn't thought I had lost anything but I managed to drop another 2 pounds this week.  I have been struggling this last week.  But it is not only because of will power etc but financial.  I am finding that eating healthier is quite expensive.  Perhaps closer to the summer the prices will go down.

So yesterday I think I pushed myself a little too hard since today I can barely move.  I spent from about 9am to about 1pm cleaning house, doing laundry, sorting bottles, yada yada, yada.  But I didn't stop there.  Then I went outside and worked in my flower bed for about 3 1/2 hours.  I will post the pictures in my photo album so you all can see that my effort was not in vain.  The whole front flower bed was completely overgrown and the lawn needed a serious mowing.  Plus I trimmed the bushes etc etc. planted my flowers and then watered them.  Plus I went out to the stores and did some work which involves a fair bit of walking.

If the site is accurate and then I burned 1205c. doing the housework and 1607c. doing the gardening for a total of 2812c. burned just doing that.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing to burn more calories than you take in?  I burned about twice the calories I ate.

Hmm okay.  Yesterday I ate when I was hungry but I am still below 1200c.  Going to have to watch that.  Perhaps have an extra little snack or something during the day.

Yesterday I would say that I got my share of exercise.  My parents, Kimber, and I walked 3.5 miles or 5.6 kilometers.  According to the calorie burners I burned anywhere from 1000 - 1230 c.  I am not sure how much I will get today.  I have a pretty good headache happening but I am hoping that will go away sometime this morning.  I have a lot of housework to catch up on and I need to go around to the stores to put up the new ads.  So even if I don't do deliberate exercise, I should be able to keep moving.

May 11th, 2006

First things first...I heard a cute little quote the other day that I had to share.

"I have a skinny person inside me, screaming to get out.  I can usually shut the bitch up with chocolate."

So, yesterday was not a good day.  I was so tired and unmotivated that I ordered in and what I ordered was not that healthy.  But, I guess as long as it is one day and not everyday, it is not a huge tragedy.

Beakfast

  • 1 packet of instant apple cinnamon oatmeal
  • 2 pieces od rye toast with margerine
  • 1 small glass of 1%/skim milk

I didn't have lunch because it was a late breakfast.  But we did have an early supper.

Supper

  • I ordered a chicken club burger.  I guess this is not too bad since it was chicken breast instead of a preformed patty but the bacon was pretty bad.  There were 3 slices on the it.  Plus the lettuce and tomatoe etc.
  • A few pieces of pizaa bread (they are small pieces, shaped like a pizza slice)
  • Diet pepsi.

Yeah so I blew the diet yesterday but it is back on to it today.  I did weight myself this morning...Friday is my day.  I am going to go by my scale since it is the one I will be using every week.  I won't be using the one at the clinic until I go back for my blood test.  My new weight is 243 lbs.  So that means I have lost 4 pounds.  Progress.  No, I don't expect to lose a whole bunch at once.  I know it is going to be a long road.  I am actually happy with having lost 4 pounds in a week.

I still have not heard from the dietician.  The doctor is supposed to contact them on my behalf but I have not heard anything yet and it has been nearly 2 weeks.  If I have not heard anything by Monday, I will call the doctor and see what is up.

Anyway, it's time to start today's activities once I have been around to you. :)

May 10th, 2006

Yesterday was the day that the in laws went home so I will not be eating out so much now.  It's really tough to eat right when you are eating out.  No breakfast again yesterday.  That is really hard for me to get down.

Lunch

  • Roasted chicken (From Joey's Only)
  • Garlic parsley potatoes
  • 2 small slices of garlic toast
  • Iced tea sweetend with splenda and lemon

Supper

  • 2 white chicken breats sandwiches on light rye with mayo, mustard, and baby spinach
  • Iced tea sweetend with splenda and lemon

Snack

  • 1/3 of a cup of Nature's Source Voyageur trail mix
  • 8 oz glass of skim milk

So there we are.  That is my day.  I am going to try to count calories starting today.  We shall see how it goes.

May 9th, 2006

Sorry it took me so long to update today.  I slept in today and was not able to get to the computer long enough to update.

Breakfast

  • 2 small pieces of light rye toast with magerine (a little bit)
  • 1 glass of water

After breakfast, I worked on the hobby room which will be my office coming on the 22nd.  I had furniture to move around, things to throw away yada, yada, yada.  It was a pretty good work out.  Now I will also be able to set up the treadmill and the stepper so I can really get into the work outs.

Lunch

  • Grilled salmon burger on a focachia bun with lettuce, tomatoe, and tartar sauce (we went out to eat for lunch)
  • Tossed salad
  • Garlic parsley potatoes
  • large glass of water

After lunch I worked somemore on the hobbyroom/office.  I have most of it done but won't be able to work on it anymore until I know exactly what all I am getting from my mom when I take over the contract.

Supper

  • Spicy Slasa Chicken Grill (I wanted to make it for the in laws while they were here)
  • Tossed salad
  • Uncle Bens Spanish Rice
  • Iced tea (sweetend with splenda and lemon)

We all relaxed after supper.  Watched some tv.

Snack

  •  1/2 cup of trail mix

That is it for today.  I will be by to visit you all and add somemore tomorrow now that the family has gone home and I will have a little more time on my hands.

May 8th, 2006

First things first:  To everyone who has left comments and suggestions on my new space, thank you.  I fully intend on returing all of your comments sometime between Wednesday and Thursday.  Things are a little hectic right now with family being here so I haven't had the time to sit down and visit you all.  That being said, it's time for the meal plan:

I had no breakfast today.  I got up really late and then we went to the grocery store.  I don't believe we ate until after 3pm.

Lunch
  • 1 1/2 tukey sandwich with spinach, tomato, mustard, and mayon on sunflower seed bread.
  • A few slices of apple.

It was a pretty lazy day.  I was pretty tired from a late night and an early morning so all 3 of us had a nap.  We got up really late...again but then went to have supper.

Supper

  • Chicken and mushroom fettucinni (although I didn't eat all of what there was.
  • 1/2 piece of garlic toast
  • 1 diet pepsi

Well that is all.  Supper wasn't too healthy but I didn't all of it and I splurged and had the diet pepsi.  It's hard to stick to your diet when you are eating out so much.

I am also taking wild salmon oil capsuls.  They have Omega 3 which is supposed help lower cholesterol.  I am, however, finding out that my stomach really doesn't like them all that much.  Everytime I take them, I end up with a stomach ache and nausea.  Not much fun, if you ask me.  But I am hoping it gets better with time.

5月8日

May 7th, 2006

This was an odd sort of day.  I didn't really have a breakfast but I didn't really have lunch either.  More of a brunch.  Mainly because I slept in and by the time I was hungry it was late in the morning.

Breakfast/Lunch

  • 1 buffalo turkey (deli meat) sandwich on rye bread with lettuce and tomato.
  • 1 small glass of milk

Lunch/Supper

  • 1 turkey garlic sandwich (deli meat) on sunflower seed bread with lettuce and tomato
  • 1 glass of iced tea (sweetended with spelnda and lemon)

We went out for a late supper once we opened presents when Terry's family got here.

Supper
  •  1 roast beef dip (It came with fried but I was good and only ate 3 fries.)
  • 1 16 oz glass of water

After supper we came home and we all played in the back yard for a little while until it started getting cold and dark.

Snack

  • 1 small piece of ice cream cake (It was, afterall. Kimber's birthday)

Total glassses of water=2-160z glasses

That's all folks.  I didn't get a whole lot of exercise in but I didn't eat a whole lot either.  I may not over the next few days as I am probably going to be doing a bunch of running around.  We shall see how it all goes.

5月7日

May 6th, 2006

Howdy all.  I had a busy day yesterday so I didn't got for the walk but I was active anyway considering all that I did.  As you will see from my meals, I did slip a little bit, but it is not nearly as bad as what I used to be.  Without further ado:

Breakfast

  • 1 piece of rye toast with a little bit of margerine (I can't manage dry toast.  It just makes me feel like I am chewing a piece of cardboard.)
  • 1 small omlette made from Egg Creations Garden Vegetable.  (I didn't care for this a while lot.  It was really bland but I think with a little seasoning, it will be okay.)
  • 1 small glass of 1%/skim milk
  • 1 cup of fat/sugar free yogourt, mixed berry

Lunch

  • 1 tuna sandwich on rye with lettuce and tomatoe.  (I know.  I had this for lunch yesterday but it is all I had at the time and I had some left over from the day before.)
  • 1/2 cup crab salad made with lemon pepper, frank's red hot, and a tiny bit of low fat mayo
  • Glass of H2O

This is where I got my poop in a group and started working on the house.  I cleaned the kitchen which included sweeping and mopping the floor.  I did 3 loads of laundry.  Made the bed.  Cleaned the bathroom.  Cleaned out the chest freezer.  Took out the garbage.  Changed the litter box.  And last but not least, I cleaned up my entryway.

Snack

  • Another 1/2 cup of crab salad.  (It was quick and easy and I was starving.  I would have had some fruit, but until I see a dietician, I have to try not to consume a whole lot of sugar which fruit has)

Supper

  • 1 1/2 bowls of Soup - This is an "Asian" soup that we make.  It's really healthy.  We used a broth mix that Terry's mom sent up for us put in boneless/skinless chicken breasts, cubed, mushrooms, bok choy, green onion, and rice vermachelli noodles.  (This is one of my favorite meals so I slipped a little and had a little more than I should have.
  • 1 glass iced tea, sweetend with Splenda and lemon (we always have iced tea on hand.  It's so easy to make and very cheap too.)
  • 1 stawberry banana milkshake. (This is a big slip I know but it was made with real strawberries and bananas we had on hand and we used skim milk.  The ice cream was the worst part of it.)

Total Glasses of Water=5 16 ounce glasses

So that is it.  Like I said, I slipped a little with the milk shake but it wasn't a huge slip I don't think.  At least it was made with real fruit and low fat milk.

I am not sure how the next few days is going to work out.  With Terry's family here, we may end up eating out a lot so I will have to see how it goes.  I hope that I can stick to it.  I know that they are buying sushi tonight which is really healthy.

Thanks again for the support, everyone.  It definitely helps to know there are people out there that will look after and support me. :)

5月6日

May 5th, 2006

So, I have decided to post what I eat and do the day after I do it.  That way it is a complete list and I don't have to return multiple times during the day.  So here goes.

1 glass of koolaid (made with splenda)

No breakfast.  I rarely eat breakfast because I usually wake up with an upset stomach and it usually takes about 2 or 3 hours before it calms down.  It has been that way since I was a teen.

Lunch

  • 1 sandwich - Tuna salad made with a tiny bit of light mayo just to keep it "together" with one slice of tomatoe and a piece of lettuce.
  • 1 large carrot cut into sticks
  • glass of water

After lunch, I took Kimber for a walk.  We went through the tail to the interpritational park near the mall and we played on the slides for a while.  Then we walked the short way up to the store where Terry works so that I could get his bank card so I could walk to the mall and pick up something for supper but we couldn't get ahold of him.  So we walked home again.

Elapsed time: 12:40pm to 1:45pm

Snack

1/2 large apple

I just puttered around the house for a while, played some games on the computer, read to Kimber, that sort of day to say stuff.

Supper

  • Spicy Salsa Chicken Grill (Oh my god this is SO good.  I found the recipe online at the American Diabetes Association website.  Click on the name to see for yourself  We had to modify it a touch because we don't have a grill just yet, we used medium instead of hot salsa...which was cholesterol free, and we forgot the chives.)
  • Uncle Bens Natural Select Spanish rice.
  • Iced Tea (homemade and prepared with splenda and lemon)
  • One large slice of watermelon

That was it for the night  When you write it down like that, it seems like a lot, doesn't it?  I have no idea if I did well but considering that if I wrote down everything I used to eat, then I think I am making progress.

It's hard though.  The serving sizes are what is difficult.  We used to eat until we were stuffed but now, with the amount of food that we are eating ie: the proper serving sizes, I don't get that.  So, mentally, I feel like I'm not full, even though I have had enough to eat or as much I should eat anyway.  It will be easier when my body gets used to it and my stomach "shrinks".  Until then, it will be difficult to keep my hands "out of the cookie jar" so to speak.

Anyway, that's it for today.  I will try to at least update this site while family is here.  Out of the 2, this one is the more imporatant.
